Bloody Night...

Halloween is around the corner everyone!  Yippy!  For those of you who do not have any formal plans for Halloween, why don't you set up a little party of your own and invite a few of your closest buddies.  Now I'm not talking about just another Halloween party, I'm talking about a Vampire party.  This party can be for your closest buddies and be made into a movie night.  The reason behind this idea is due in part of a friend of my sister, who wanted some ideas for a vampire party.  Since I LOVE VAMPIRES I jumped at the challenge.  Anywho, I figured I would share them with you.  These ideas are just to get you started for a small bite-fest.

Decorations:
1. Use black curtains
2. Cobwebs
3. Black Candles and Candelabras
4. Serve food or drinks in goblets and ornate silver platters/trays
5. Hang bats from the ceiling
6. Make a coffin (fake of course) with styrofoam or cardboard
7. Hang garlic strands on different random locations throughout
8. Tell your guests to bring their own fangs or you may provide them, whatever is cost effective
9. Black Roses (Use white roses and dip them in food coloring, I read this somewhere)

Food and Beverages to suck on:
1. Red Wine: Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Shiraz.  Bloody Mary's, and Sangria

Finger foods can be served but labeled with gory names (I can't take credit for this, I found these ideas on a website)
1. Baked skeleton bones (pretzel sticks)
2. Bat brains (popcorn)
3. Candied spider eggs (gum drops)
4. Chocolate dipped houseflies (chocolate covered raisins)
5. Bake some cupcakes, frost them with chocolate frosting, and place halved Milano cookies on them with R.I.P. written with icing
6. Serve tomato soup in test tubes

DVD's:
1. Interview with the Vampire
2. Bram Stokers Dracula
3. The Lost Boys
4. Twilight
5. Fright Night
6. From Dusk til Dawn
7. Salem's Lot
8. Blade

So there you have it!. These are somethings you can sink your teeth into (pun intended)!  Have a very Ghoulish and Bloody Halloween!

Running Behind Schedule! Yikes!/ Don't Pull A Hamstring

Oh my gosh, you guys!  I am soooo sorry for disappearing for awhile, I have been a little busy with things but I'm back.  Alright, let's get down to the nitty gritty, I have missed some important issues I have wanted to talk about.  As you know (or maybe you don't), September 30th was Woman's Health and Fitness Day (told you I was behind), this day is the nation's largest yearly health campaign event for women or sexy kittens like yourselves, of all ages.  This event will be held yearly on the last Wednesday in September.  Why Wednesday?  I don't know but it is what it is.  This day should not be confused with National Women's Health Week which is observed in May.  The reason I mention this, regardless of how late I am posting this, is because women are usually the caregivers of everyone else (spouses, boyfriends, children, parents), and they tend to forget to focus on themselves and their own health, also this is something that should be focused on daily not just once a year.

Don't give excuses about how busy your day is, I know women have to take care of a household and sometimes work full time, or be home with the kids (which is a full time job in its self).  I am a woman so I know we tend to have more responsibilities BUT you have to remember that if you don't take care of yourself, no one is going to do it for you.  When you make your health a priority the health of your family improves as well.  Let me point out, that you do not have to be some health nut or fitness guru to do this.  I don't particularly like gyms, sweaty people all over the place are not my idea of fun nor do I know how to operate the machinery in these places, but you have to do something for yourself.  You can take a brisk walk, buy videos to use at home (I know you have a DVD player), purchase some equipment to use at home or even join a gym, if that is your choice.  It doesn't have to be too crazy just something to get your heart pumping.  And if you can't do an hour worth of exercise because you don't have the time get atleast 20 minutes to a half hour; something is better than nothing.

One of the benefits besides improving your health would be you just feel better about yourself.  Those endorphins will kick in and will make you feel awesome.  Woo-Hoo!  Trust me, Google endorphins and read up on it.  Don't be scared to Google....O.k. Google is your friend.  And when you feel good about yourself people will take notice, believe me.

Gentlemen this goes for you too.  Just like you want to have your woman looking and feeling good about herself, we want the same for you.  So, put down the gosh darn beer and set aside the pizza and look down at your belly.  If it jiggles or if you can't see your Fred Flinstone toes that is a good indication that you should also be taking a little better care of yourself.  As stated above to the women, there are plenty of things you can do to take care of yourself.

Now, let's say you really, really, really don't have the time to exercise (whatever), you still eat throughout the day right?  Take that opportunity to eat better foods and that way you are atleast doing something for your health.  Stay away from fast food---McDonald's is the enemy!

This is the part where I should put a disclaimer stating I am no personal trainer, and you should seek the advice of a physician or nutritionist before starting any health program, I guess just to make sure there are no underlying problems you should be aware of and to make sure your ticker is ok.  So there you have it!
